Registrants

Consumer: a homeowner or group, such as a condominium or neighborhood association.

The Consumer enters this information in the field: Consumer Identifier, Business, or Entity.

Examples: The Connolly Family, The North Weymouth Neighborhood Assoc.

Regulator: a town or municipality with the legal right to enforce state or local laws and regulations for properties, zoning, conservation, planning, health, and historical designation, etc.

The Regulator enters this information in the field: Consumer Identifier, Business, or Entity.

Examples: Town of Weymouth, City of Boston, etc.

The Regulator also completes the fields, Department and Title, which avoids hard-coded regulatory agency names and a subcategory for them.

Examples: Building Department, Chief Inspector; Building Department, Plumbing Inspector; Zoning Department, Commissioner, etc.

Supplier: a retailer or wholesaler of products for residential construction identified according to a sub-category.

The Supplier enters this information in the field: Consumer Identifier, Business, or Entity.

Examples: Anderson Windows, Weymouth Lumber, Harvey Industries.

Professional: an individual who holds a state registration and college degree in a specialty and is identified according to a sub-category.

Examples: structural engineer, surveyor, architect, etc.

A designer may register as a Professional, even though state registration and a college degree are not required.

All professionals provide references.

Service Provider: an individual or company that offers a service for which references are optional and is identified according to a sub-category.

Examples: HAZMAT inspectors, lenders, insurers, realtors, attorneys, tool rentals, dumpsters, etc. 

Subcontractors: a tradesperson for whom references are required and, in some instances, license numbers and insurer names and is identified according to a sub-category.

Examples: framing and finish carpenters, excavators, plumbers, electricians, gypsum board installers and finishers, masons, etc.

Privileges

E-Folio Manager (EFM): the individual responsible for content in an E-folio, which he or she identifies in the field: Consumer Identifier, Business, or Entity, such as The Connolly Family or Truman Electrical Co.

E-Folio Managers invite others to view their folios and set editing and view access privileges to projects.

Authorized User (AU): an individual who accepts the E-folio Manager’s invitation to register with editing and view access privileges the EFM establishes.

The E-folio Manager approves of the Authorized User and may assign to him or her one or more projects.

Once registered, an Authorized User does not register each time he or she receives an invitation.

Reference User (RU): an individual who accepts the Professional, Subcontractor, or Service Provider E-folio Manager’s invitation to submit a reference for him or her.

The E-folio Manager does not assign References to projects.

Once registered, an Reference User does not register each time he or she receives an invitation.
